For the beachcomber at heart, Sanibel and Captiva Islands are a dream come true. Because of their east/west position along the coast, the winds and Gulf currents wash thousands of shells onto the 11 miles of beaches. At low tide, assume the "Sanibel Stoop" and shell to your heart's content.
|
Bowman's Beach offers excellent shelling and is located on the west end of the island. Barbeque grills and an outdoor shower are available here.
Lighthouse Beach is on the east end of Sanibel and features a working lighthouse and fishing pier. The beach extends from the Gulf around the tip of the island to San Carlos Bay.
Turner Beach is located on both the Sanibel and Captiva sides of the Blind Pass Bridge. It is a popular beach for shelling and fishing.

Tarpon Bay Beach is conveniently located mid-island at West Gulf Drive and Tarpon Bay Road. The parking area features easy access for recreational vehicles.
The Causeway Beaches are located on San Carlos Bay between Sanibel and the toll booth. The area is great for picnicking, windsurfing, and fishing. You can park right at the water's edge; restrooms and picnic tables are available. |
