It’s obvious that February and March are very busy times on Sanibel and Captiva (not to mention the rest of Florida) and the biggest tourism months of the year. The warm weather is here, most public northern schools have their winter vacation scheduled in February, and colleges traditionally have spring break in March. There’s one week more than any other that is almost guaranteed to be sold out every year; mid-February or President’s Day Weekend.
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club presents its annual (over 30 years) Arts & Crafts Festival which will take place at the Sanibel Community House on Periwinkle Way (next to The Island Cow Restaurant) on Saturday (10 am to 5 pm) & Sunday (9 am to 4 pm), February 15th and 16th. Featuring over 100 artists of numerous styles, the Festival turns the Community Center into a community of art galleries (almost like the Farmer’s Market, only they feed your mind and soul), benefitting college scholarships and other worthy projects.
Likely to be found are acrylic paintings, glass-blown sculptures, hand-crafted jewelry, and so much more. The Festival is now also featuring a food court for lunches, drinks, and treats (Man does not live on art alone.)
Not only will you find items for sale, but a silent auction will also be held with hundreds of prizes ranging from certificates to Sanibel’s restaurants all the way to a family ski vacation to Vermont!
Admission is “a small donation,” and parking is free. Primary parking is across from the Community House at the Strauss Theater, but there are overflow parking lots available with trolley/van shuttle service.

Plan Your Sanibel Island Vacation
Occupancy for Sanibel Holiday is very high the week of February 15 – 22, but if you can’t Book Direct and Save with us, we can still search other companies on your behalf and work with them while you check in with us (We call this “co-broking.”). Otherwise, we recommend the Sanibel-Captiva Chamber of Commerce’s website (sanibel-captiva.org); mouse to the header “Where to Stay,” where several lodging options will appear to help narrow your preferences. We hope you’ll be able to find something to your liking, even if it isn’t with us.
