Southwest Florida is known for highlights in sports. Lee County hosts not one, but TWO Major League Baseball teams for Spring Training (Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins), popular minor league hockey (Florida Everblades) and baseball (Fort Myers Miracle), and the Florida Gulf Coast University’s (FGCU) men’s basketball team, which scored one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history as a 15th seed by defeating 2nd seed Georgetown in 2013 and gave rise to their nickname of “Dunk City.”

Now Fort Myers is adding to the excitement with the 2nd Annual Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans Fort Myers Tip-Off on November 25 & 27, featuring FOUR participating teams from the last March’s Tournament; beginning with Pitt (University of Pittsburgh) vs Kansas State University and Northwestern University taking on Bradley University. Game times are still pending.

The Tip-Off will be held at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena at Florida SouthWestern State College. Directions are easy if you are going from Sanibel; continue straight from the Sanibel Causeway approximately 9 to 10 miles and you’ll see it on the left.

Individual tickets and group booking/rates are available, so you have the chance to be part of the action and #OwnTheFort this Thanksgiving Week.

The games will also be televised live on Fox Sports 1 (FS1). Check local listings for channel and time.
