One thing we don’t understand about the Holidays in Florida. People come from all over, mostly escaping snow, ice, cold, blizzards (except at Dairy Queen). And yet, when it’s time to decorate for Christmas, what do we put up? Snowmen? Santa Claus in a full red suit that would cause a heat emergency for anyone else? Sleighs and reindeer? Who are you fooling? It’s never getting that cold here!
Fortunately, there are some folks on Sanibel and Captiva that have more sense and put up some, shall we say, UNIQUE displays to signify the Most Wonderful Time of the Year? The kind that make you say, “Only in Florida.”
From H2O Outfitters at Jerry’s Plaza
Nothing says “Christmas In Florida” with candy-cane-horned Christmas Narwhals at Jerry’s Plaza
That’s more like it. Some fine feathered (and maybe drunk) flamingos at Jerry’s Plaza. Is that octopus a designated driver?
Always a favorite, and more accurate (?)…Santa and his eight flying dolphins (led by The Island Cow) at The Island Cow
Et tu, 2020? A TP “Quarantree” with a spray bottle of “Santa-tizer.”
How does a flamingo have a red nose on its BEAK? Boggles the mind…
These pelicans at Kingfisher Vacations are either enjoying presents or have the perfect hiding place.
And finally, a classic from the Tween Waters Resort on Captiva…Santa Claus climbing down a well-placed palm tree to deliver presents.
