It has been a stellar year for tourism on Sanibel and Captiva.  Call it “revenge travel” or the “pent-up need for travel,” but Southwest Florida hospitality (hotels, motels, vacation rentals, restaurants) and retail shops had such an influx of travelers (some of them for the very first time).

But like everyone else, some of us need a vacation, too.  Especially our restaurants, who have been serving under extraordinary employment challenges.  That’s why, as fall approaches, some decide to close and take a break of their own.  Some for just a week or two, some for a month.  With that in mind, the following will be closed:

Blue Rendez-Vous – May 30 thru September 30

The Blue Giraffe (both locations) – September 5 and 7(respectively) thru September 20

Gramma Dot’s – September 7 thru September 22

The Mad Hatter – September 6 thru September 30

Over Easy Café – September 13 thru September 23

Paper Fig Kitchen – September 6 thru September 13 (though their new restaurant, 400 Rabbits, remains open)

Rosie’s Café and Grill – September 6 thru September 13

The Sandbar Steak and Seafood – August 2 thru September 30

Schnapper’s Hots – September 8 thru September 20

Traders – September 11 thru October 5

T2 (Traders 2) – September 4 thru October 4

Traditions (at the Island Inn) – September 5 thru September 23

As we’ve often said, though, you could be here three weeks and not eat at the same great place twice.  There will be no shortage of culinary experiences! Check our website’s section on restaurant suggestions.
