Things to do on Sanibel

BIG ARTS (Barrier Islands Group) recently celebrated the completion of their new performance arts center.  With a state-of-the-art (no pun intended) facility on Dunlop Road adjacent to City Hall and the Sanibel Historical Village,  the new hall boasts a larger, more comfortable stage for live performances and films, an outdoor performance area, huge galleries, and a gift shop.

After nearly a year of construction, the doors were opened on January 25, 2020 with performances by Island Jazz and the BIG ARTS Concert Band and Community Chorus.

As such, their “Dream Season” is off to a spectacular start with sold-out upcoming performances, including R&B, Soul, and Jazz artists Sheléa and Veronica Swift, as well as a tribute to Ray Charles (“Georgia On My Mind”), a one-man performance of “Winston Churchill: The Blitz,” and the magic of Mike Super.  Christensen Hall is also home to screenings  of powerful movies, including the Academy Award Best Picture “Parasite.”

Be sure to check BIGARTS.org or call (239) 395-0900 for more information.  You can Book Direct and Save AND enjoy the finer things in life without ever leaving the islands.
