November in the North is considered slow and boring….the leaves have fallen, it’s getting colder, and it’s weeks before Thanksgiving.
But on Sanibel, November starts heating up with the 4th annual Blues and Jazz Festival on Sunday, November 3. Presented by the Sanibel-Captiva Optimist Club, which uses proceeds to fund scholarships and summer programs for kids, among other benefits.
The event is located at the Bailey’s Shopping Center, or rather behind it (The Backyard). For those who haven’t been, we know that sounds strange. But it’s a bigger venue than you’d think. On-island parking is available, with Special Valet Bicycle Parking available on Festival grounds. Great foods and beverages (including beer and wine) will be available.
The show runs from Noon until 7pm with amazing talent both returning and new players to the Festival:
Johnny Jensen – An Islands native who performs at the Jensen’s Twin Palm Cottages & Marina on Captiva as well as the Fort Myers Music Walk.
Marty Stokes Band – A Florida favorite who has performed at the Festival every year. 2017 winner of the International Blues Competition.
Sean Chambers – “One of the top 50 blues guitarists of the last century” per Guitarist magazine (UK).
Matt Schofield – Back by popular demand to headline, a guitar virtuoso regarded as one of the greatest in decades and compared to the likes of Eric Clapton.
The night is capped off with all artists jamming together.
General admission is $20.00 (bringing your own chairs is recommended) and VIP Admission is $100.00 (which includes reserved seating and parking, free Fest T-shirt, free raw bar and champagne bar among other food and beverages, and a meet and greet with the bands).
