As of 2026, leashed dogs are allowed on all public beaches.

Important Reminders: 

  • Leash Laws: Dogs must always be on a leash no longer than 8 feet. 

  • Parking Fees: A fee of $5/hour applies at most beach parking lots. 

  • Safety: Always bring water and bags for cleaning up after your pets

Activities: 

You can even bring them through the JN “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge!! Or take them on a hike through one of the nature trails. Dogs are permitted on the main Wildlife Drive, the Indigo Trail, and the Bailey Tract. 

Tarpon Bay Explorers (the refuge concessionaire) allows leashed dogs on rentals like kayaks and paddleboards.
